IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM  THE EARDLEY GROUP

(Copy of a letter mailed out to all Eardley family members in Great Britain and Ireland from David Eardley)

Dear Eardley Family Member,

As you have probably gathered from Robert Jack Eardley's letters and if you have access to a computer and the Eardley web
site (www.eardley.org), you will know that the Worldwide Eardley Family is supporting the appeal to raise funds to restore the
East Window in St.James' Church (see pictures below) in Audley, Staffordshire, England.
The window is at present in very poor condition and in urgent need of attention.
The cost to fully restore the window is in excess of  £30,000.  As a token of the Eardley Family's thanks for the Church playing host for the world
wide family re-union on the 15th July 2000, it was agreed to organise and support fund raising to realise the total cost of the restoration of the window.
Almost half has already been collected and the restoration is planned to commence in October 2001.
Your donation will help to complete the appeal and also gives you an opportunity to win an exquisite Eardley memento in the form of a solid
silver pendant and chain (see picture below), hall marked in the Millennium Year and with a unique Certificate of Manufacturer's Authenticity.
Your name and address will go into a draw which will take place during the Audley Male Voice Choir concert at St. James' Church
in Audley, England on 8th December 2001.

One of our aims is to stimulate the fund raising to complete the restoration of the East Window in St. James’ Church Audley.

A member of the group, Cyril Eardley, is a retired engineer who has amongst other interests a near professional knowledge of silver-smithing.
He has made many silver items including bowls, napkin rings, coasters, tankards etc.  for his children and close family. In aid of the
Window Appeal fund he has specially made a pair of exquisite silver pendants for the purpose of raising additional funds for the appeal which
was initiated by Robert Jack Eardley. The fund has now reached halfway to the target and we need your help to ‘finish the job’

The pendants are truly beautiful, each with an 18” sterling silver chain and in a black presentation box.  Each pendant is made in
English sterling silver and hall marked in the Millennium Year. As Cyril is registered as a maker at the Birmingham
Assay Office the hallmark contains the Maker’s Initials CE thus making the pendants a unique Eardley  memento.

In order to maximise the benefit for the fund we need at least 200 Eardleys to each donate £10 to the fund .

It’s easy to participate, all you need to do is to send a cheque for £10 (or equivalent) payable to the Audley PCC Eardley Window
Account 94960003’
and write on the back of the cheque ‘Silver Pendant’
- don't forget to include your name and address.

Send your cheques to:
Mr
. Ian Knight  Administrator
St James' Parish Office
14 Church Street
Audley,  Stoke-on-Trent,  Staffordshire,  ST7 8DE,  United Kingdom.

The senders name will then be entered onto a card which will be placed in a sealed box and on the occasion of the Audley Male Voice
Choir Concert in aid of the window appeal on the 8th of December this year, the first two cards drawn out of the box will each receive one
of the Silver pendants.

What an opportunity to acquire an ‘Eardley Pendant’ - Made by an Eardley -
With an Eardley Hallmark in the Millennium year of the Eardley Family reunion!

EVERY CHEQUE, EVERY PENNY WILL GO TO THE APPEAL FUND!

Please support it !!

In the vestibule of the church hangs a large plaque (see picture below) describing the benefactors of Audley Parish in the eighteenth century and includes
members of the Eardley family, a further plaque will describe the Eardley family involvement in the restoration of the East Window
in the twenty-first century.  You are part of that heritage, please make sure that you are personally involved by contributing.
